Did you know we start planting our mums in June?
We carefully water, fertilize, space and supervise their happy little lives until late August when they start to show off their color -- Finally!
Not all mums grow and bloom at the same time. This allows us to grow different varieties so we have new bloomers all season long. We grow over 45 different varieties of mums!
Just to name a few of the brand names:

More Sunshine, Please!
Did you know mums do not like to grow in the shade? It actually makes their flower less vibrant.
They Bloom When they are Good and Ready!
We love growing so many different varieties to see those beautiful blooms bursting throughout the summer and fall.
Early bloomers - they start showing off in the last 2 weeks of August
Early to mid bloomers - typically bloom around mid-September
Mid-season mums - bloom in late September. That is where we are now as of this published date!
Mid-late bloomers - start in early-mid October
Late bloomers may wait until late October to show off their colors!
Oh Mum, You Can Be So picky!
Mums are little bit like Goldilocks when it comes to watering, depending on their pot size.
You'll definitely want to check to see if they need watering each day.
Small pots will dry out quickly so you may need to water them twice a day.
Larger pots - you should always check to see before you water them. If your pot is really heavy, don't water it because they can easily get root rot once the temperatures start to cool down.
Mums can get sick if you water them from above so be sure to avoid getting their fluffy leaves and blooms wet. We recommend carefully watering from the side.
Take extra care during watering to not bend/break their stems - they won’t grow back!
Besides all that, they're pretty easy! :)
Other Tips and Info
Mums love their own space! If you have multiple mums in an area, be sure to space them out so they are not touching each other. Otherwise you'll end up with "holes" or mums with strange shapes!
Some of our fall grown mums may overwinter, depending the amount of snow and if they are planted in a sheltered location.
Our hardy mums (perennials) can give you joy each year if cared for properly!
Mums can be a little particular but they're also forgiving when they need to bee!
